Hunted by Meagan Spooner
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I have had this book for a long time. Actually since the day it release but I heard that to enjoy it you really have to pay attention. So I have put it off for awhile because when I read, I usually have the tv on and I'm feeding my baby or yelling at one of my dogs or husband. I am always doing a million other things. But I got a break in my hectic life and so I finally got to read this book..
I didn't like it and I am so disappointed. I love fairy tale retellings. I love fairy tales, period. I love believing in the unbelievable. But this book was boring. I was bored for almost all of it. I enjoyed when Yeva was first getting to know her "friend" who turned out to be beast. I liked how they formed their friendship. But that was really only for a couple of chapters. The rest of the book was Yeva in the forest hunting or learning to hunt. I also really liked the concept of the firebird but I hated the hunt for it.
I really hated the ending. One, it was rushed. Two, it didn't feel finished. It was a lot of, perhaps they would do this. Or perhaps they will live here or have kids and perhaps they will travel and we didn't really know what happened or how Yeva and the beast lived together. We didn't learn anything about their lives actually. I need more of a concrete happy ending in my fairy tales.
