Review: The Brightest Embers

The Brightest Embers The Brightest Embers by Jeaniene Frost
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was nervous going into this book. I really did not like the last book and I am always nervous when I start the last book in a series.. actually I usually put off reading the last book in a series but I.. I hate that I am about to say this but I wanted to get this series over with. I love Jeaniene Frost. I re-read the Night Huntress series and the Night prince series multiple times a year. I am obsessed with them but this one just kind of fell flat for me. So as soon as this one became available I started it. I just wanted it over. But I was actually surprised with this one. It was so much better than the last book. Ivy was still annoying but she was better this book. Adrian was still kind of an ass but he makes up for it in the end.

I loved the ending of this series. I won't lie, it still is no where near my favorite but I still did enjoy this book and I am glad I read it.. it won't be one I re-read though.

Review: This Savage Song

This Savage Song This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I honestly had no intention of ever reading this book.. I need a romance in the books I read. But I was at work looking through the 20+ unread audiobooks and none of them sounded good. So I hopped over to my library website and saw this and monsters sounded awesome to me.

Kate bothered me a whole lot at first. I could not relate to her on any level. I have parents that would support me even if I murdered someone.. like my mom would be there like "She had to have had a reason." So I have never felt the need to you know burn down a chapel to get my fathers attention. And I seriously almost stopped reading the book right there. I just thought that it was ridiculous that she was burning shit down just to go home. And then her attitude at school? Not havin it. I kind of hated her. And to be honest.. I still don't really love her. She absolutely got better towards the end of the book but I still didn't like her. Now August I loved. He was adorable and completely lovable. He was a nice monster!

But I honestly did like this book. It was fun and an interesting story. I have already put the next book on hold at my library.

Review: Kindred

Kindred Kindred by S.J. West
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I like the idea of the story but my god the romance.. The romance guys was so awful. I think I like Mason and Jess but the way they go about their relationship makes me want to barf. I could't finish S.J West's Watcher series which is the series that took place in the same world as this one but 15 years in the past. But I couldn't finish it because the romance was so terrible. I kind of thought that this couple couldn't be so cringe worthy but I was sadly very, very wrong.

I understand that Jess had a traumatic childhood. I understand that she would have issues with sex stuff. But she's a freaking tease! No no no I am not talking about when she asks him to stop when he tries to go a little further than kissing. I am totally on board with that. You go girl for telling him no and yay Mason for stopping immediately. But I have issues with her constantly making sexual innuendoes. I mean she does it every other page and she will kiss him and say we can finish it later. Bitch you know you aren't ready for that next step. Stop teasing the poor man. Also Mason is a million and five years old and he was married at some point in his past but he is still acting like a 13 year old with his first crush. It's creepy.

Also the cheesy talk. I am not kidding everything they said to each other was so corny and so unnecessary. I feel like they would stop in the middle of a conversation with, you know, GOD or the flipping devil just to be like I love you, you are the greatest person in the world, I couldn't live with out you. Blah blah blah.

So heres what sucks about my brain.. I kind of really want to know what happens next and I really want to know if Lucifer some how redeems himself. So screw me I'm going to have to read the next book. But I am dreading it.. seriously. I don't want anymore of Mason and Jess.

Review: Something to Howl About

Something to Howl About Something to Howl About by Christine Warren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There was nothing wrong with this book. It was a short shifter book.. I am excited about the town.. but thats about all I got out of this book.. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It was a kind of intro into Warren's new series and that is exactly what we got with this book. A short intro. The romance wasn't great. I think it could have been if the book was longer. But there isn't a whole lot of development that can be done in such a short story. But like I said I am excited for the town and I am excited for this series!

Review: Enforcer

Enforcer Enforcer by Lauren Dane
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was terrible.. I honestly think I would have liked it better if I would have physically read the book. So I am going to give the series another try but not the audiobooks..

It was hard for me to get past the narrators voice. It was like nails on chalkboard to me. But the storyline was good. I mean it wasn't great but it was ok. Some of the things the characters said made me cringe. Literally cringe. Honey.. I will just throw that word out there.. If you have read this then you fucking know what I'm talking about. bleh.

I didn't like the whole anchor thing either. It was awkward not hot.

Idk I really think a lot of my issue was the narrator. Ill try again. We shall see.

Review: The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I don't get it.. I really do not understand why this book is getting so much hype. It has been recommended to my so many times and I'm gonna be honest with y'all. I did not enjoy it and I don't understand what is so fantastic about it.

I get that Monty was suppose to be funny.. and at times he was. But 98% of the time he annoyed the hell out of me. He was quite frankly a douchebag. He is completely in love with his best friend but instead of being a man and telling his friend, he decides it's best if he sleeps with tons of other guys and girls and then go and tell the man he's in love with all about his conquests. No. He is a jerk to his sister because she reads. He is selfish and ungrateful and kind of a whore. Percy(which is the best friend he is in love with) is kind of an idiot for sticking around with Monty.. I don't see the appeal. Monty got everyone in these crazy situations because he is only concerned about himself. He never thinks of anyone else.

I am honestly trying to understand why everyone loved this so much but the whole book I wanted to punch Monty right in his face. I understand that he grows up.. a little bit.. by the end of the book. But honestly it wasn't that big of a change.

I am giving this book 2 stars because it was funny at times.. But I really didn't like the story and I really hated Monty. To each their own.

Review: Luca

Luca Luca by Sarah Castille
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I was a little nervous about Luca.. He was always kind of rough and I was specifically nervous that his lady love was going to be a detective because of Luca's dad. I was so worried he was going to be a complete jerk to her and he wasn't at all. I loved him. Seriously he is one of my all time favorite heros. I mean f you don't like the alpha hero type then you will hate him because he was the alpha of all alphas. But he was not mean to her AT ALL! Even when he found out she was a cop. I just loved him. I would give this book 5 stars for Luca alone but luckily the story line was also pretty fantastic. I won't lie.. I really don't read a lot of mob type books but I did love this one.. I loved Luca. He made this book. And I mean.. get. the audiobook. You will thank you me when you hear his voice. I am dead serious. Hell even if you don't want to listen to it, go listen to a sample. You WILL thank me.
